This weekend we had a fun sushi night with our friends/neighbors, Drew, Bethany, and Quinn. When Bethany and I were thinking of what to make for dinner, we came up with the idea of sushi...little did we know what we were getting ourselves into!! Bethany and I had a great time making homemade wontons and sushi, but boy was it time consuming! Being beginners, we were a little unsure as to what we were doing, but luckily a few years ago my mom sent me a sushi book and DVD! One would think that we would have read it or watched the DVD, but we had confidence in our skills and we went for it after looking briefly at the pictures...oops! Needless to say, our rolls were not the most beautiful masterpieces, but boy were they yummy and fresh! After 3 hours of sushi making, we had 3 platters full and 4 very hungry people. It was finally time for our patient husbands to eat..at 900pm...the time we promised :) It was all worth it however as we sat by the fire, listening to music, eating sushi and enjoying wine. We had a great night with our friends and will definitely do it again...except next time Bethany and I might read the Sushi book a little more carefully :)

I guess we weren't supposed to spread the rice to the end of the paper (we used soy paper instad of seaweed) but the picture is neat!
We even made homemade ice cream in addition to all the sushi...we are such little homemakers!! You can only imagine the mess we had made in the kitchen :)
